NFL Personality Solomon Wilcots | Part 1- What Has Gone Wrong For the Bengals in 2024?

Former Cincinnati Bengal Solomon Wilcots joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss the Bengals' 44-38 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers and what went wrong with the Bengal's 2024 season.
Solly and Lap talk about the biggest issues the Bengals have faced this season. The Bengals defense has been the biggest problem in 2024 and it doesn't look like an easy fix going into next year, it seems like the defense will need a total rebuild next season. 
The offense has been fantastic scoring over 30 points in numerous losses this year. Joe Burrow and Jamar Chase are having record setting seasons and will look to continue their success for the rest of the year.

Dave Lapham: Reaction To Another Bengals Loss

Despite Joe Burrow throwing for 309 yards and three touchdowns, the Cincinnati Bengals added another home loss to a season that continues to see goals fade into a distant memory.
The game started on the right foot with Cam Taylor-Britt taking an interception of Russell Wilson 51 yards for a touchdown. However, Wilson responded with a 17-yard touchdown strike to George Pickens, and it was easy to see instead of a defensive slobber knocker, it would be a game where both offenses looked to score each time they possessed the ball.
Ultimately, it was another loss for the Bengals on a season that started with much promise and dreams of reaching another Super Bowl.
Dave Lapham jumped into the First Star Logistics studios to give his reaction to the Bengals' eighth loss of the year, with five more games to go this season.

Dave Lapham: Breaking Down The Pittsburgh Steelers

With an 8-3 record, the Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the surprise teams in the NFL. However, they've only played two AFC North games, one with a win over the Baltimore Ravens and one with a loss against the Cleveland Browns. 
Now, they start a stretch of games that includes games against the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cleveland Browns, a road game against the Ravens in Week 16, and a game against the Bengals to close out the season.
With back-to-back losses before their Bye Week, the Bengals are hoping to turn their 4-7 season around and make a push to earn a Wild Card spot in the playoffs. The road will not be easy, and it starts Sunday afternoon when the Steelers come to Paycor Stadium.

Bengals Special Teams Coordinator Darrin Simmons | Bengals In A Must Win Game Against The Steelers

Cincinnati Bengals special teams coordinator Darrin Simmons joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss the Bengal's special teams and how the next game against the Pittsburgh Steelers is a must-win game. 
The Bengals special teams have been up and down this year with McPhearson having the worst season of his career missing huge kicks in many of the Bengal's losses this year. Coach Simmons does believe Money Mac can regain his mojo and the coaching staff still has a great belief in his abilities. 
Ryan Rehkow has been an amazing addition, being one of the best punters in the NFL in 2024. He's averaging just over fifty yards per punt and his long on the season is eighty yards which is a Bengals record. Hopefully, McPhearson can regain his stride and Rehkow can continue to play great and give the Bengals great special teams for the rest of the season.

Cincinnati Bengals Center Ted Karras | Six Games to Define the Bengals 2024 Season

Cincinnati Bengals center Ted Karras joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss the Bengals disappointing loss to the Los Angeles Chargers and how the next six games will define the Bengals's 2024 season. 
It was another amazing game where the Bengals fell just short on Sunday night falling to the Chargers 34-27. Joe Burrow and the offense played amazing once again coming back from 21 points in the second half, the defense also played well in the second half but put the team into too big of a hole in the first half giving up 24 points in the first half.
Ted and Dave discuss how these next six games, especially the Steelers game after their bye will define their 2024 season. If they beat the Steelers the playoffs are still alive but will need help from other teams in the AFC. With a loss to the Steelers, the Bengals season will be over.

Lapham Reaction Bengals Wasting Joe Burrow's Magical Season

It was a long plane ride back to Cincinnati following the Bengals 34-27 Week 11 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
Dave Lapham reacts to the Bengals' latest loss despite Joe Burrow having another big game. Burrow threw for 356 yards and three touchdowns, and receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins combined for 16 catches for 223 yards and three touchdowns, wasting another chance to work towards making the playoffs.
Burrow, who is leading the NFL with 3,028 passing yards and 27 touchdowns with only four interceptions, is having a magical type of season quarterbacks usually have on teams pushing for championships, not on the outside looking in at the playoffs. 
Despite being 4-7 heading into their bye, the Bengals are still in the hunt for a playoff berth if they can return and put together a winning streak in their final six games that will start against AFC North rival, the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are finding ways to win games and stand with an 8-2 mark so far.

After another disappointing loss on Thursday night, the Bengals will look to bounce back on Sunday night as the Bengals take on Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers. 
It's a game the Bengals need to win to keep their playoff chances alive. Hopefully, the Bengals will be at full strength with the return of Tee Higgins and Orlando Brown Jr but they both will be questionable for the game.

NFL Broadcaster Charles Davis | Bengals Lose 37-17 Never Counting Out Joe Burrow and the Bengals

NFL broadcaster Charles Davis joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss the Bengals' 37-17 loss to the Philadephia Eagles and how he's never counting out Joe Burrow and the Bengals.  
It was another home loss for the Bengals as they fell to 3-5 in the 2024 season. The game was tied late in the 3rd quarter but after three big plays for the Eagles, the game seemed to slip away for the Bengals. 
There were many reasons the Bengals lost on Sunday but a big one was having their #2 wide receiver out with injury. Tee Higgins was ruled out before the game after he injured his quad on Friday and now the Bengals are 0-3 without Higgins in the 2024 season.
The Bengals have the Las Vegas Raiders coming to Paycor Stadium in Week 9 in what now is another must-win midway through the season.
