Pike found success at the prep and college level without leaving home and talks about his athletic career at Reading High School. He was named Cincinnati Division II-III Player of the Year as a senior in football but didn't have college football coaches knocking down his door despite his success. Tony discusses the success he enjoyed in other sports, how he found his way to Clifton, and how he found his way to the field because of an injury to a teammate.
Also discussed is how close Pike and the Bearcats came to a National Championship game, playing for Brian Kelly and beating the odds by being drafted and making the Carolina Panthers. Also, in this episode, Tony talks about working with younger quarterbacks and his new radio career.

Miller, who grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina, comes to the Bearcats with an impressive background as a player and coach.
As a player, Miller played at James Madison University before transferring to the University of North Carolina, where he helped the Tar Heels win the 2005 National Championship.
As a coach, Miller took over UNC Greensboro leading UNCG to unprecedented success with three successive 25 win seasons and three Southern Conference championships.
In April, Miller became the Bearcats' new basketball coach and has hit the road running ever since.

Max will talk about his journey to football from La Puente High School in California, junior college at Mt. San Antonio College, and then UCLA before embarking on an NFL career going from a seventh-round draft selection in the 1979 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals.
Max would play 11 seasons in Cincinnati before finishing his career with the Los Angeles Raiders. He talks about his time spent with both organizations, the impact Paul Brown and Al Davis had on his career and life after football, owning multiple Penn Station locations, and his love of horses.

Bates has quickly proven to be a vital member of the Bengals' defense while becoming one of the prominent leaders of the entire team.
In The Trenches, Bates talks about his youth playing football and basketball in Fort Wayne, Indiana, at Snider High School. He also talks about the recruiting process that saw him earn a three-star ranking with only a couple of schools recruiting him in the Mid American Conference before Iowa and Wake Forest entered the picture late in the process.
Jessie dives into his career at Wake Forest and the coach that influenced him the most before forgoing his remaining eligibility and becoming the Bengals second-round draft pick (No. 54 overall) in the 2018 NFL Draft. 
At the start of his Bengals career, Bates turned heads and went from looking like a possible backup to the starting free safety and hasn't looked back since.

In this episode of In The Trenches with Dave Lapham presented by First Star Logistics is a man who fully understands and has lived life "IN THE TRENCHES," University of Cincinnati head football coach Luke Fickell.
Before starting his successful coaching career, Luke Fickell excelled at Columbus (Ohio) DeSales High School as a two-time first-team All-Ohio defensive tackle and three-time Ohio state champion wrestler.
Fickell would continue his career at Ohio State and showed his understanding of life in the trenches playing in the 1997 Rose Bowl with a torn pectoral muscle. Injury may have ended his playing career, but as you'll learn in this podcast/videocast, Fickell soon made a life-changing decision by entering the coaching profession.
Fickell will tackle his prep and college career and his long and successful coaching career at Akron, Ohio State, and as the head coach of the Bearcats. Learn more about the coaching mentors that helped him rise in the profession and life off the field with his wife Amy and their six children.

However, it would be his end zone dance, the "Ickey Shuffle" that had America talking and Bengals owner Paul Brown dancing.

A two-time World Series Champion with the Boston Red Sox, Youkilis talks about his childhood growing up and attending Sycamore High School before deciding between Butler University and the University of Cincinnati for college.
Growing up a Bearcats fan, Youkilis impressed former Bearcats baseball coach Brian Cleary picking to stay home where he excelled for the Bearcats. Youkilis would earn second-team All-American honors and first-team Conference USA honors as a junior but go undrafted. After another stellar year as a senior, Youkilis would get the call from the Boston Red Sox, who took the Bearcats standout in the eighth round of the 2001 MLB Draft.
After a few years in the minor leagues, Youkilis would get the call from the parent club and never look back, embarking on a ten-year major league career with the Red Sox, Chicago White Sox, and New York Yankees.
After baseball, Youkilis continued his philanthropy work with the Youkilis's foundation, is the father to three children, and happens to be Tom Brady's brother-in-law.

Jim Breech left his mark on the Cincinnati Bengals scoring 1,151 points, a franchise record while also being perfect with nine of nine field goals in overtime, an NFL record. Breech was the Bengals kicker in Super Bowl XVI and Super Bowl XXIII and was perfect in both games.
