Luke Kuechly In The Trenches with Dave Lapham

In this episode of In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics, we welcome Cincinnati, born and raised and one of the best to play the game of football, Luke Kuechly.
To say Luke Kuechly left his mark on the game of football is an understatement. 
A state champion at St. Xavier High School, Kuechly attended Boston College, where he dominated the competition in the Atlantic Coast Conference during his three seasons, leaving with 532 tackles in 38 games, earning All-American honors in each season along with many of the top defensive awards in the college game.
After a killer NFL Combine, the Carolina Panthers selected Kuechly with the ninth pick of the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft, and it didn't take long for Kuechly to show why as he earned AP Defensive Rookie of the Year.
In eight seasons, Kuechly dominated, helping the Panthers reach the Super Bowl during the 2015 season. However, in January of 2020, Kuechly surprised many when he announced his retirement from the game at 28 years old.

Bengals Linebacker Coach Al Golden In The Trenches with Dave Lapham

In this episode of In The Trenches with Dave Lapham presented by First Star Logistics, we welcome Cincinnati Bengals linebacker coach Al Golden.
Since his prep career at Red Bank Catholic, Al Golden has enjoyed great success in the game of football. At Penn State, Golden became a team captain his senior year as the Nittany Lions knocked off Tennessee in the Fiesta Bowl to finish with an 11-2 record, and a #3 ranking in the final 1991 AP Poll. However, he may be remembered more for his touchdown late in the fourth quarter against #1-ranked Notre Dame as a junior that allowed the Nittany Lions to kick a late game-winning field goal.
After a brief stint in the NFL, Golden started his coaching journey with assistant roles at Virginia, Boston College, and Penn State before becoming the head coach at Temple, a program that had seen limited success. In his fourth season, Golden led the Owls to their first winning season since 1990 with a 9-3 record and appearance in the EagleBank Bowl against UCLA.
Golden became the head coach at the University of Miami where he would be from the 2011 season until his dismissal during the 2015 season.
It didn't take long for the NFL to come calling and in 2016 he became a coach for the Detroit Lions and in January of 2020 be hired by the Cincinnati Bengals.

While Chuck Martin may not have seen a career as a coach, many who coached him along the way saw the makings of one. Coach Martin returns to his youth in Park Forest, Illinois, his prep career at Rich East High School, and his college career at Millikin University.
Along the way, Coach Martin talks about his coaching career that started at Mankato State and his time with Brian Kelly at Grand Valley State and Notre Dame before taking the helm at Miami University.
