We continue counting down to the 2022 NFL Draft with former Cincinnati Bengals safety Solomon Wilcots on Dave Lapham In The Trenches presented by First Star Logistics.
In Part One, Wilcots and Lapham discussed how free agency might have changed the Bengals' direction where they're scheduled to make their first selection with the 31st pick in the first round of the draft.
Part Two finds the discussion turning towards the positions and players the Bengals could look to fill or pick on the first night of the draft.
If the Bengals look to cornerback, standouts Sauce Gardner, Derek Stingley Jr., and Trent McDuffie are expected to be off the board by the 31st pick. However, Kaiir Elam, Andrew Booth, and Kyler Gordon might be available.
If not cornerback, maybe the Bengals look at safety with players like Dax Hill, Lewis Cine, and Jalen Pitre possible targets, or perhaps a move towards the offensive line with players like Tyler Smith (Tulsa), Zion Johnson (Boston College), Kenyon Green (Texas A&M), Bernhard Raimann (Central Michigan) and Iowa center Tyler Linderbaum who many compare to NFL standout Jason Kelce.

In Dublin, California, Alex Cappa was a zero-star non-ranked project offensive lineman during his high school career. Only Humboldt State saw enough in Cappa to give some athletic scholarship money.
While in college, Cappa worked to build up his frame and technique enough to earn an invitation to play in the Senior Bowl. Impressing scouts, Cappa went from a projected fifth-round pick to being selected in the third round (94th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Cappa appeared in six games as a rookie, then opened his second year in the league as a starter, quickly showing his toughness suffering a broken left arm against the New Orleans Saints, but did not miss a snap.
In year three, Cappa would play a significant role in helping new Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady reach the playoffs, only to see his season end when he suffered a fractured ankle in the Buccaneers Wild Card game against Washington. While Cappa would miss playing in the Super Bowl, he was starting to earn a reputation as one of the top young offensive linemen in the NFL.
After finishing his rookie contract, Cappa hit NFL free agency market with the Cincinnati Bengals and offensive line coach Frank Pollack looking to revamp an offensive line that struggled during the team run to Super Bowl LVI with what he described as "Glass Eaters."
On March 18, 2022, Cappa signed a four-year, $35 million contract with the Bengals joining free agents Ted Karras (New England Patriots) and La'el Collins (Dallas Cowboys) to give Pollack a new center, right guard, and right tackle.
Welcome, Alex Cappa, the Cincinnati Bengals' new "Glass Eater" as he goes In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics.
