Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Trenton Irwin shares his unique football journey from high school U.S. Army All-American selection and Stanford University student-athlete to the NFL, beating the odds of going undrafted to finding a home with the Bengals as a member of the practice squad and on the roster since his arrival in 2019.
Over the last four seasons, Irwin has played in 11 games, with seven games last season during the Bengals run to the Super Bowl. Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo took time away from heading out for a break during the Bengals bye week to jump back In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics.
Coach Anarumo had the Bengals defense at the top of their game Sunday against the Carolina Panthers; now, they'll take a week off, look to bring back a few players missing due to injury, and keep looking forward as they head into the meat of their schedule as each week the stakes will rise as the Bengals look to get their first win in the AFC North, make the playoffs and look to earn a return trip to the Super Bowl.

Dave Lapham Postgame | Bengals Get Right Against Carolina Panthers

Coming off their Monday night loss to Cleveland, the Cincinnati Bengals knew they needed to right the ship before heading for their bye week. Joe Mixon heard the call and posted his best game of the season while making history in the process with a five-touchdown game as he rushed for 153 yards and four of the five touchdowns and added 58 yards on four receptions, and his fifth score as the Bengals dismantled the Carolina Panthers 42-21.
But to say the game was all about the play of Joe Burrow, Mixon, and the Bengals' offense would be a mistake. Defensively, Lou Anarumo had his players ready to shut down the Panthers offense in the first half, and as the teams left the field at the half, the Bengals held a 35-0 advantage.
After the game, Dave Lapham jumped In The Trenches, presented by First Star Logistics, to give his thoughts on the Bengals win, the performances of Mixon and Burrow, and the things needed over the next week as the Bengals will take some time off during the bye with hopes of getting several players back from injury before heading to Pittsburgh for a scheduled Sunday night match-up with the Steelers and the need to get their first win in the AFC North this season.

Laps Keys To Bengals Victory Carolina Panthers

The NFL season enters Week Nine, and Dave Lapham Keys to Victory is back as the Cincinnati Bengals will look to rebound after their Halloween night disaster against the Cleveland Browns.
The Carolina Panthers may be 2-6 but are playing hard for interim head coach Steve Wilks who they would like to get the job full-time.
A lot has happened with the Panthers as they traded their best player, running back Christian McCaffrey, to the San Francisco 49ers and benched quarterback Baker Mayfield in favor of P.J. Walker, a former starting quarterback in the XFL for the Houston Roughnecks, where he led the league in passing touchdowns (15) and passing yards (1,338) in five games before the season was suspended.
The Bengals enter the game with more injuries, as Mike Hilton will miss Sunday. 
Joe Burrow and the Bengals offense need to start quickly, while the defense needs to rebound after their struggles against the Browns.

Former Cincinnati Bengals safety Solomon Wilcots always keeps his opinions real when he's In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics.
Like all Bengals fans, Wilcots did not like what he witnessed Halloween night when the Cleveland Browns knocked down and bloodied some noses on their way to a dominating 32-13 win over the Bengals.
The loss has many, including Wilcots, wondering if the Bengals can find the magic they enjoyed after their bye week last season on their way to the Super Bowl.

Dave Lapham Postgame | Bengals Suffer Injuries and Loss To Cleveland Browns

The Cincinnati Bengals entered Monday night's "Battle of Ohio" against the Cleveland Browns expecting Joe Burrow and the Bengals offense to continue their successful ways despite the news of Ja'Marr Chase being out several weeks with an injury.
Instead, Burrow and the Bengals took an old fashion butt-whipping from their cross-state rivals in front of a national audience as they are still looking for their first win in the AFC North. 
If losing Chase wasn't big enough leading up to the game, seeing cornerback Chidobe Awuzie go down with what looks like a season-ending knee injury added fuel to a night filled with sacks, a costly early turnover, missed kicks, and a Browns offense running at full speed behind quarterback Jacoby Brissett, running back Nick Chubb, and receiver Amari Cooper.

The NFL season enters Week Eight, and Dave Lapham Keys to Victory is back for the "Battle of Ohio," with the Cincinnati Bengals heading to Cleveland to battle the Browns.
All looked great for the Bengals coming off their win over the Atlanta Falcons. Then, however, things turned as we learned wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase would be out for several weeks with a hip injury.

Callahan and the Bengals offense look to have found their stride with four wins in their last five games and one of the all-time best performances from Joe Burrow in their 35-17 win over the Atlanta Falcons.
Callahan and the Bengals look to notch their first win in AFC North play when they travel to Cleveland to take on the 2-5 Browns in primetime on Monday night football.
The game gives Callahan a chance to compete against his father, Browns offensive line coach Bill Callahan again, with the younger Callahan and the Bengals looking to snap a four-game losing streak to the rival.
The overall series in the "Battle of Ohio" has the Bengals leading 51-46 and 27-19 since the Browns' rebirth in 1999.
Callahan talks about what makes the Browns dangerous on both sides of the ball, especially defensive end Myles Garrett.

Bengals Receivers Coach Troy Walters Talks Big Three and Joe Burrow

Cincinnati Bengals wide receivers coach Troy Walters enjoyed his own successful football career at the college level before spending several seasons in the NFL.
During his NFL career, Walters spent time with one of the all-time great quarterbacks, Peyton Manning. Now, Walters is getting an up-close look at Bengals standout quarterback Joe Burrow.
While Manning enjoyed some great receivers with the Colts, Burrow may hold an upper hand with the Bengals trio of Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Tyler Boyd.
Walters joined In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics, to discuss the players he's coaching and gives his thoughts on the success of one of the top quarterbacks in the league, Joe Burrow.

Dave Lapham Postgame | Bengals Beat Falcons

It was a great day to be at Paycor Stadium if your team was the Cincinnati Bengals.
Joe Burrow guided the Bengals offense to 537 yards of total offense behind Burrow's 34 of 42 passing for 481 yards and three touchdowns, with main targets against the Atlanta Falcons being Tyler Boyd (155-yards / 1 touchdown) and Ja'Marr Chase (130-yards / 2 touchdowns), and the Falcons didn't know what hit them trailing 28-17 at the half with Burrow adding another score in the third quarter.
While it would be easy to give Burrow and the offense all the praise for their successful day, Lou Anarumo had the defense dialed in except for a short period before halftime that was quickly forgotten in the second half as they shut down the Falcons offense. In addition, several young players like Cam Taylor-Britt and Jay Tufele stepped forward, helping the Bengals overcome several injuries.
