Coming off an impressive defensive performance against the Atlanta Falcons, Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo returns to In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics, to discuss how players like Akeem Davis-Gaither, Markus Baily, Tyler Shelvin, and others, stepped up to play critical snaps as injuries have slowed a few key members of the Bengals defense.
Now, it's time to see if the Bengals can step up and get their first AFC North win of the season against their cross-state rival, the Cleveland Browns, who have one of the best running attacks in the NFL despite their 2-5 record.

We welcome back to In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics, Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan.
**NOTE: This interview was done before any news of the injury status of Ja'Marr Chase.**

Dave Lapham Postgame | Bengals Beat Falcons
Sunday Oct 23, 2022
Sunday Oct 23, 2022
It was a great day to be at Paycor Stadium if your team was the Cincinnati Bengals.
Joe Burrow guided the Bengals offense to 537 yards of total offense behind Burrow's 34 of 42 passing for 481 yards and three touchdowns, with main targets against the Atlanta Falcons being Tyler Boyd (155-yards / 1 touchdown) and Ja'Marr Chase (130-yards / 2 touchdowns), and the Falcons didn't know what hit them trailing 28-17 at the half with Burrow adding another score in the third quarter.
While it would be easy to give Burrow and the offense all the praise for their successful day, Lou Anarumo had the defense dialed in except for a short period before halftime that was quickly forgotten in the second half as they shut down the Falcons offense. In addition, several young players like Cam Taylor-Britt and Jay Tufele stepped forward, helping the Bengals overcome several injuries.
Go In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics, to get Laps' thoughts on the Bengals successful day as they move to a 4-3 record with a significant prime-time NFL match-up set for next Monday night against the Cleveland Browns.

Bengals Safety Michael Thomas | Leader On and Off The Field
Thursday Oct 20, 2022
Thursday Oct 20, 2022
Cincinnati Bengals safety Michael Thomas may not have the spotlight shine on what he does each week for the Bengals. But ask those from top to bottom in the Bengals organization what Thomas has brought to the team since he arrived last season, and all would agree he's a significant reason special teams and the locker room are some of the best in the NFL.
Thomas grew up in Houston, Texas, with a love of playing sports, especially baseball. However, his father's stories about the game of football quickly turned his attention to the game. When Jim Harbaugh took over at Stanford and called, Thomas soon realized how much he could receive from trading the game for an education that would serve him after the cheering stopped.
While the NFL didn't knock down his door, Thomas found his former college coach willing to give him another opportunity with the San Francisco 49ers. Soon the Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, Houston Texans, and Bengals would follow, bringing Thomas back to another of his coaches, Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo.
Anarumo knew Thomas was a guy the Bengals needed in their locker room, and he quickly became one of the leaders on a team that surprised many by reaching the Super Bowl.

Injury Impact On The Cincinnati Bengals
Wednesday Oct 19, 2022
Wednesday Oct 19, 2022
The Cincinnati Bengals enter Week Seven of the 2022 NFL season with a 3-3 record and NFC South foe the Atlanta Falcons heading to Paycor Stadium.
With standout defensive tackle D.J. Reader having been out for the past few weeks after being placed on injured reserve, Lou Anarumo's defense was showing the depth Duke Tobin, and the Bengals front office had built with the play of Josh Tupou. However, Tupou left Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints, walking around in a boot.
If both Reader and Tupou cannot go against the Falcons, rookie Zach Carter and second-year waiver wire pickup Jay Tufele will see the most snaps they've seen this season in helping B.J. Hill man the inside.
Add in the loss of rookie edge rusher Jeffrey Gunter who was lost during warmups against the Saints, and the Bengals front has been hit hard.
However, maybe the most significant hit could come if linebacker Logan Wilson is forced to miss a game or two after being sidelined in the fourth quarter against the Saints with an injury to his repaired shoulder that saw him miss time last season.
On offense, Tee Higgins and Jonah Williams are showing their NFL tough fighting through injuries to play big roles in last week's win over the Saints.
We dig into how the injury bug has hit the Bengals on In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics.

Sunday Oct 16, 2022
Sunday Oct 16, 2022
Following his duties on the First Star Logistics Bengals radio network calling the Cincinnati Bengals 30-26 win over the New Orleans Saints, Dave Lapham jumped In The Trenches to give his postgame thoughts on the Bengals big road win.
The defense came up with the plays when it was needed most; however, it was the Bengals offense that saw their star power step forward as Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase reminded fans in the Superdome why they were cheering for the duo just a few years ago when they led LSU to a College Football National Championship.
