Now, after the Bengals' impressive 27-24 win over the Kansas City Chiefs, Simms is ecstatic about the Bengals signal caller and has moved him up his board of the top NFL quarterbacks playing today.
Simms and Lap talk all about how amazing Burrow was on Sunday, along with how the Bengals are not a one-pony show with a solid roster on both sides of the ball and players like Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins to go with an ever-improving offensive line with new additions Alex Cappa, Ted Karras, La'el Collins, and Cordell Volson and a defense led by coordinator Lou Anarumo who is getting the most out of D.J. Reader, Sam Hubbard and the rest of the Bengals outstanding defense to make them the team on the rise as we near the end of the regular season.

Jim Nantz | Cincinnati - Sit Back Enjoy The Ride
Wednesday Dec 07, 2022
Wednesday Dec 07, 2022
This past weekend, Jim Nantz was on the call for the Cincinnati Bengals exciting Week 13, 27-24 win over Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Now, Nantz jumps In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics, to discuss his storied career as one of the top sports commentators in the world.
Despite being roommates and teammates on the Houston Cougars golf team with Hall of Fame golfer Fred Couples and fellow PGA Tour member Blaine McCallister, Nantz had bigger dreams of working for CBS Sports.
That dream came true when Nantz joined CBS Sports in 1985, working as a studio host for college football and basketball and an on-course reporter for PGA Tour events before anchoring CBS' coverage of the Masters Tournament starting in 1989.
Soon, Nantz was on the call for the NCAA Final Four men's basketball finals and the network's NFL pre-game program, The NFL Today. By 2004, Nantz was the network's top NFL play-by-play announcer and continues that role today with Tony Romo.
Not only do Nantz and Lap talk about his broadcast journey and past with Couples, but Nantz also digs into what makes Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, head coach Zac Taylor, offensive coordinator Brian Callahan, and defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo one of the top combinations in the NFL.

Dave Lapham Postgame Thoughts | Cincinnati Bengals Down Kansas City Chiefs
Monday Dec 05, 2022
Monday Dec 05, 2022
All week on In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics, we talked about how the battle between the Cincinnati Bengals against the Kansas City Chiefs would be another exciting match-up for the third time during the 2022 calendar year.
The Bengals were ready for Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce, keeping Mahomes under 300-yards and Kelce to four receptions and 56 yards with no touchdowns to go with a game-changing play by Germaine Pratt, who stripped the ball out of Kelce's arms and recovered it for the Bengals.
While the Bengals defense was playing at a high level, the offensive line continued to grow, giving Joe Burrow time in the pocket and making key throws and running lanes to Samaje Perine to run for over 100 yards.
After the game, Lap took time to jump In The Trenches to give his postgame thoughts on the Bengals big win and look ahead to Sunday's match-up against the Cleveland Browns.

Laps Keys To Bengals Victory Kansas City Chiefs

Saturday Dec 03, 2022
Week 13 of the NFL season is upon us, and the Cincinnati Bengals (7-4) continue their climb back up the standings of the AFC on a three-game winning streak and a rematch of last season's AFC Championship game against the Kansas City Chiefs (9-2).
We've heard from Bengals quarterback coach Dan Pitcher and defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo. Now, Dave Lapham gets In The Trenches, presented by First Star Logistics, to give his Keys To Bengals Victory over the Chiefs.
While all signs point towards star receiver Ja'Marr Chase being back on the field, there are still questions about running back Joe Mixon, who continues to go through concussion protocol.
Wins last season came dramatically against the Chiefs. Still, the Bengals' offense and defense are looking to make a statement against the high-powered Chiefs offense, with quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce leading the way.
Joe Burrow and Mahomes will have all eyes on this game, as they are two of the top quarterbacks in the NFL, with many comparing this match-up to some of the all-time great quarterback battles of the past.
Paycor Stadium will be rocking for this as the Bengals look to Rule The Jungle to keep their winning streak going.

Cincinnati Bengals defensive mastermind Lou Anarumo returns to In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics, to give his final thoughts on the impressive win over the Tennessee Titans and take a look ahead at Sunday's match-up against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Dave Lapham Postgame Thoughts | Cincinnati Bengals Down Tennessee Titans
Sunday Nov 27, 2022
Sunday Nov 27, 2022
We told you the Cincinnati Bengals would need to keep the "Big Boy" pads out when they headed to Nashville to take on the Tennessee Titans.
The men in the stripes answered the call against the Titans as they played every snap all out, earning their seventh win on the season and learned after the game the Baltimore Ravens fell to the Jacksonville Jaguars to place them in a tie at the top of the AFC North.
As the Bengals' offense continued to play without star receiver Ja'Marr Chase and learned late in the week that they'd also be without running back Joe Mixon, and there was no shortage of players stepping up to help in the 20-16 win.
Joe Burrow was his usual self going 22-of-37 for 270 yards and one touchdown, with Samaje Perine posting a combined 115 yards of offense with a rushing touchdown and Tee Higgins posting seven catches for 114 yards a touchdown.
But it wasn't all about the offense in the win, as Lou Anarumo had the Bengals' defense primed to stop Derrick Henry again with rookie Cam Taylor-Britt and Mike Hilton coming up with big plays.

Laps Keys To Bengals Victory Tennessee Titans
Saturday Nov 26, 2022
Saturday Nov 26, 2022
Week 12 of the NFL season is upon us, and the Cincinnati Bengals (6-4) are back in the AFC hunt, looking to take another step toward reaching their 2022 season goals.
Coming off a big win over the Pittsburgh Steelers a week ago, the Tennessee Titans (7-3) are looking to answer for last year's playoff loss to the Bengals by keeping Joe Burrow and company from coming to Nashville and taking back another big win.
The Bengals know they'll be without running back Joe Mixon in this game and will look towards last week's star, Samaje Perine, Trayveon Williams, and Chris Evans, to carry the load.
Questions remain despite talk early in the week that Ja'Marr Chase could return to the field in this game. Burrow and the offense showed they're not a one-man offense against the Steelers and will need to see a repeat performance against the Titans. However, the heavy load might have to be carried by Lou Anarumo and his defensive unit as they look to stop the power running of Derrick Henry, the leading rusher in the National Football League, coming into the weekend.
A Bengals win, and they'll be standing with the same record they had a year ago when they made their run to become AFC Champions and reach the Super Bowl. A loss, and you're staring at the Kansas City Chiefs coming to Paycor Stadium with one of the best overall records in the NFL this season.

Former Cincinnati Bengals kicker Jim Breech knows all about being in a battle for your job in the NFL. Breech experienced both sides of the battle during his long career before being a member of the Bengals and then during his time in the stripes.
Breech looks at the battle between Bengals longtime punter Kevin Huber and the young leg of Drue Chrisman.
Breech also discusses In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics, how the Bengals offense, even without star receiver Ja'Marr Chase, can beat you running the ball or using the arm of quarterback Joe Burrow to strike through the air.
Sunday, the Bengals travel to Nashville to battle the Tennessee Titans in a game the Bengals need to win to keep pace in the AFC North and the overall AFC playoff picture, and Breech shows off his football knowledge by breaking it down.

Dave Lapham Postgame Thoughts | Cincinnati Bengals Down Steelers
Monday Nov 21, 2022
Monday Nov 21, 2022
The Cincinnati Bengals returned to action Sunday afternoon, looking for their first win in the AFC North and to continue the style of play they showed before taking a week away for their bye week. The Pittsburgh Steelers were looking to continue their strong showing from the previous week but found the Bengals ready to start their march to stay on pace with the Baltimore Ravens in the North and goals of making another run in the AFC playoffs in reach.
Joe Burrow may have seen T.J. Watt make another big-time play against him, but in the end, Burrow and the Bengals offense were ready to pick the Steelers defense apart as Burrow passed for four touchdowns 355 yards in the 37-30 win. Tee Higgins showed why he's also a number one NFL receiver with nine catches for a season-high 148 yards as running back Samaje Perine took three Burrow passes for touchdowns. Burrow's other touchdown went to Trenton Irwin, the first of his NFL career.
The Bengals also received several solid performances from the defensive side, as Sam Hubbard and Trey Hendrickson each pressured Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett.
Drue Chrisman survived the pressure of his first regular season NFL game after being brought up to replace longtime Bengals punter Kevin Huber against the Steelers. He delivered with three punts, including two putting the Steelers inside the twenty.
Following the game, Lap took time before jumping on the bus to give his postgame thoughts on the Bengals win, the injury to Joe Mixon, and the Bengals next opponent, the Tennessee Titans, presented by First Star Logistics.
