Cris also gives his opinion on the Bengals 2024 draft class. The Bengals had a very impressive draft and Cris thinks a lot of this class will be impact players for the Bengals in 2024. They made big changes in the trenches by drafting Amaruis Mims at offensive tackle and added two new defense tackles Kris Jenkins and McKinnley Jackson. The Bengals also made big additions to the tight end room with Erik All and Tanner Mclachlan.

Former NFL quarterback and current NBC NFL analyst Chris Simms joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss Joe Burrow's return, the Bengals 2024 draft class, and the Bengals 2024 schedule.
Chris was one of the national media members to praise the Bengals draft, as he believes it was one of the strongest classes in the NFL this year. He thinks Jermaine Burton might be the biggest steal of the draft saying if Alabama had a better QB while he was there he would've been a first-round pick. Chris also loves the Bengals in the trenches picks with Mims, Jenkins, and Jackson.
Lap and Chris also discuss the Bengals 2024 schedule, and many believe it's a favorable schedule for the Bengals. With an early matchup against the Super Bowl-winning Chiefs, it will be key for the Bengals to have a great start to the season unlike the past two seasons. Compared to the last two seasons the schedule should be in the Bengal's favor as they play a 4th place schedule in 2024 compared to a 1st place schedule like the previous two seasons.
We want to thank Chris Simms for being a fantastic guest and for joining us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham brought to you by First Star Logistics. We always enjoy having Solomon Wilcots get back In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics.
In this episode, Wilcots and Lapham discuss the 2024 Cincinnati Bengals schedule and whether the NFL was kind or cruel to Joe Burrow and company as they look to rebound from missing the NFL playoffs during the 2023 season despite having a winning record.
While the Bengals won't have a game out of the country, Wilcots and Lap both feel the window is opening, and the NFL could soon be sending the Bengals for a match-up out of the country.
Also discussed is how Solomon feels about the Bengals 2024 draft and the player he feels will be the biggest steal in the draft taken by Zac Taylor and the Bengals.

Thursday May 09, 2024
Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss Joe Burrow's return to practice and the 2024 Bengals draft class.
Joe broke the Cincinnati internet when clips of him at practice went viral and he looks to be in really good shape after an injury-ridden 2023 season. Coach Taylor believes Joe's rehab is going great and can't wait to have a 100% healthy Joe Burrow for the 2024 season.
Lap and Zac also analyze the Bengals 10 2024 draft picks, and Zac goes into great detail on what he thinks makes each of them special.
As we are getting used to our brand-new studio we suffered some audio issues with Lap's audio, that's why his voice sounds different in this video. We have addressed the problem and future interviews won't have this issue!

Cincinnati Bengals director of college scouting Mike Potts joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss the Bengals 2024 draft class.
The Bengals had a very successful 2024 draft, filling their biggest needs with players they believe will have an immediate impact on the 2024 season. They keep their same successful formula, drafting players with elite athletic scores from big-time programs.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Bengals drafted what they hope to be their right tackle of the future with Amarius Mims (Georgia). They also added C Matt Lee (Miami) in the 7th round who had the highest PFF score of any center in the draft this year. With their 3rd-round pick, they selected WR Jermaine Burton (Alabama) who has first-round potential but off-the-field issues dropped him lower in the draft, hopefully, he will be an upgrade at WR3 after Tyler Boyd departed after 8 seasons. In the 4th & 6th rounds, they drafted two tight ends; Erik All (Iowa) and Tanner McLachlan (Arizona). Both played at very high levels in college and make the Bengal's tight end very versatile coming into the 2024 season.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Bengals drafted two defensive tackles Kris Jenkins (Michigan) and Mckinley Jackson (Texas A&M), both were great players in college and will look to fill and surpass the role of DJ Reader. In the 5th round, they selected CB Josh Newton (TCU) who was a projected 2nd-round pick until the draft process where he fell a bit on draft boards. They also added a pair of Ole Miss players with explosive edge player Cedric Johnson and safety Daijahn Anthony.
We want to thank Mike Potts for being a fantastic guest and for joining us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham brought to you by First Star Logistics. Cincinnati Bengals offense line coach Frank Pollack joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss the Bengals's new offensive linemen they selected in the NFL draft; OT Amarius Mims and C Matt Lee.
Amarius is a huge offensive lineman out of Georgia, and a lot of experts say he has the most upside out of all the offensive linemen drafted. Mims will be competing for the starting right tackle job with new Bengal Trent Brown. Mim joins an offensive tackle group that now has three players over 6'8 making them one of the biggest groups in the NFL.
The Bengals also selected C Matt Lee from Miami University in the 7th round of the NFL round. This pick according to numerous metrics was the best value of any picks the Bengals had this draft, with many having Lee ranked in their top 5 centers for this class. With Ted Karrs being a free agent next season maybe Lee can have a strong rookie season and be the center of the future for the Bengals.
We want to thank Frank Pollack for being a fantastic guest and for joining us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham brought to you by First Star Logistics.
