Cincinnati Reds catcher Tucker Barnhart is our special guest on In The Trenches with Dave Lapham presented by First Star Logistics.
Tucker Barnhart grew up not far from his current MLB home Great American Ballpark in Brownsburg, Indiana. Barnhart established himself as the top baseball player in the Hoosier state earning "Mr. Baseball" honors his senior year.
Having committed to play baseball at Georgia Tech, many teams allowed Barnhart to drop in the 2009 Major League Baseball draft, with the Reds taking their catcher in the 10th round with the 299th overall selection.
Barnhart didn't take long to earn his way to the Big Leagues, earning a spot on the Reds 40-man roster in late 2013 and making the Reds 2014 Opening Day roster.
Barnhart has proven to be one of the top defensive catchers with multiple Gold Glove awards and talks about how he's developed his overall game behind and at the plate over the years.
We'll also discuss the success he enjoyed during his prep career, his first hit, his first home run, catching Wade Miley's no-hitter, and his growing family.
Tucker Barnhart is one of the best on and off the field, and we feel you'll enjoy our conversation with the Reds backstop.
