Dave Lapham Remembers the Cincinnati Bengals Playing the San Diego Chargers In The Freezer Bowl

As Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals get ready to host the Las Vegas Raiders in the playoffs, In The Trenches with Dave Lapham presented by First Star Logistics takes a look back to January 10, 1982, when Lapham and his Bengals teammates led by quarterback Ken Anderson and head coach Forrest Gregg, took on Don Coryell, Dan Fouts, and the San Diego Chargers in the coldest game played in NFL history when adding in wind chill, -9 but with sustained winds of 27 miles per hour making it -37.

With three future NFL Hall of Fame players taking the field for the Chargers in Fouts, receiver Charlie Joiner and tight end Kellen Winslow, it was Anderson and the play of Dan Ross, Pete johnson, Reggie Williams, Jim Breech, Rick Razzano, M.L. Harris, and other Bengals to come out on top in the AFC Championship Game 27-7 to advance to the first Super Bowl in franchise history.

Lapham takes a look back at the days leading up to the game with how head coach Forrest Gregg used his past of playing in the Ice Bowl for Vince Lombardi to get the Bengals ready and what the offensive linemen did on game day to hopefully give them a slight advantage over the Chargers.
