Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, FOX News Bill Hemmer has stayed true to his roots, cheering for his hometown teams, the Elder Panthers, Reds, and Bengals, no matter where he's gone in the world.
Hemmer, who was in Kansas City last Sunday for the Bengals AFC Championship Game against the Chiefs, got In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics, to discuss the outcome, quality of officiating, his work in journalism that goes back to when he was working sports at WLWT-TV and WCPO-TV with John Popovich and Dennis Janson.
Football is a passion for the FOX News co-anchor, who teams with Dana Perino on America's Newsroom on weekday mornings and has since his days at Our Lady of Victory and Elder High School, where he followed older brother Andy Hemmer (played at Boston College) earning honorable mention all-city as a defensive back his senior year.
Not only do Hemmer and Lap talk about the success of the Bengals and quarterback Joe Burrow, but they also dig into Hemmer's work as a reporter for both CNN and FOX News and stories and interviews that have stayed with him over the years.
Who would be his dream interview?
Hemmer also turns the table of Lapham looking to start early talks about the Bengals' draft needs in the next NFL Draft to be held this spring.

It's hard to believe we're doing our final Postgame Thoughts here on In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics.
However, the Cincinnati Bengals went down fighting after a slow start against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday night, 23-20.
Like many games during an entire season, plays were made, plays were missed, and there are always questions on calls from officials that seem to go against your team. That is no different from what happened to Zac Taylor and his exciting squad of talented players, who aimed to capture a second consecutive AFC Championship crown and a return trip to the Super Bowl.
While the Bengals made enough plays to take the game down to the final seconds, this season had no magical ending. The future is bright with a roster full of young and talented players, but as with any new season, there will undoubtedly be some changes along the way with the NFL Draft coming this spring and other roster moves.
While we'll leave the latter part for another In The Trenches, the future is bright and exciting for those who cheer on Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase, and company in the stands, at home, or across the world.
We hope you've enjoyed our coverage of the Bengals this season on In The Trenches, and we can't thank First Star Logistics enough for their tremendous support in allowing us to do something we love.

Do you believe it... The Cincinnati Bengals, after an 0-2 start, are in their second consecutive AFC Championship Game.
Now looking for their eleventh straight victory of the season, Zac Taylor, Joe Burrow, and the rest of the Bengals are coming off their most complete game of the season and look poised to make a return visit to the Super Bowl.
The Chiefs and Bengals have played it close in the three previous meetings over the past thirteen months. However, this one has a lot of drama heading into it, with questions about Patrick Mahomes after he injured his ankle last weekend and late Friday talk of star tight end Travis Kelce coming up with a back issue, making him questionable for Sunday's game.
While we know this will be another significant test for the Bengals, the way they've been playing has many feeling comfortable to foresee the Bengals playing on the final weekend of the NFL season. However, we know the game must still be played on the field, and anything can happen.

Former Cincinnati Bengals safety Solomon Wilcots returns to In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics, to give out some wisdom on what he's seeing with this season's Bengals team as they prepare for another AFC Championship Game against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Wilcots hears the talk and has given his opinion to others about why Joe Burrow, Zac Taylor, and Lou Anarumo have made significant changes to the Bengals on both sides of the ball and in the locker room.
Solomon and Lap discuss the Bengals' impressive win over the Buffalo Bills, why others need to start listening about how good the Bengals are now and will be in the future, and Sunday's big showdown with Andy Reid, Travis Kelce, Mahomes and a Chiefs defense looking to shutdown Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase, Joe Mixon and the rest of the Bengals offensive weapons with the winner headed to Super Bowl LVII.

Long-time NFL Insider Peter King showed the Cincinnati Bengals a lot of love following their win over the Buffalo Bills last Sunday.
Jackson Carman, Mike Hilton, and defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo all saw King praise their performances in helping the Bengals reach the AFC Championship Game this weekend.
However, King, a former Bengals beat writer, saved his most significant statements and praise for quarterback Joe Burrow.
You won't want to miss King's return visit to In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics, as he talks about the Bengals' win over the Bills, top performances, a look at what the Bengals must do to beat the Kansas City Chiefs to win back-to-back AFC Championships, and why he feels Bengals fans are in an era that is going to be the greatest in Bengals history when all is said and done.

It was a homecoming for Cincinnati Bengals quarterback coach Dan Pitcher this past Sunday as the Cortland, New York native, who grew up a Buffalo Bills fan, returned as a marked enemy of the Bills Mafia with quarterback Joe Burrow as his weapon of choice.
Pitcher, who came to the Bengals in 2016 as an offensive assistant and was promoted to quarterback coach by Zac Taylor for the 2020 season, has been with Burrow since the Bengals drafted him with the overall No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, knows he's working with a once in a lifetime talent and has no problem heaping praise on his quarterback.
Dan Pitcher returns to In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics, to discuss the Bengals' big Divisional game win over his childhood team, the Bills, about Sunday's opponent, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Bengals offense and star quarterback Joe Burrow.

If last week's Wild Card Game against the Baltimore Ravens had Cincinnati Bengals fans on the edge of their seats, Sunday's dominating 27-10 win over the Buffalo Bills had fans watching one of the best overall performances of the season while advancing to the AFC Championship Game for a second consecutive season to face the Kansas City Chiefs.
Bills fans watched as the Bengals hammered down coffin nails in their season. Any dreams of reaching a Super Bowl were put to rest as Joe Burrow threw for 242 yards and two touchdowns, one each to Ja'Marr Chase and Hayden Hurst, while Joe Mixon played with a massive smile on his face rushing for 105 yards and a touchdown and the Bengals defense kept Josh Allen in check with only eight yards in the first quarter and no touchdown passes and an interception for the entire game.
Dave Lapham jumped In The Trenches, presented by First Star Logistics, to give his postgame thoughts on the Bengals' big win behind a revamped offensive line and another gem of a game plan by Zac Taylor, Brian Callahan, and Lou Anarumo.

#bengals #nflplayoffs #davelapham The next round of the AFC playoffs takes the Cincinnati Bengals to Buffalo to battle the Bills, with the winner heading to the AFC Championship Game next weekend.
The Bengals are looking for their tenth straight victory of the season. While the NFL decided to go ahead and sell tickets for a Bills vs. Chiefs Championship Game, the Bengals know the first order of business is stopping Bills quarterback Josh Allen and protecting Joe Burrow with their revamped offensive line missing three starters.
This match-up was to happen at the beginning of the month, with the Bengals jumping to a quick score and their defense holding Allen and the Bills' offense to a field goal. The second drive went as well as the first before play was stopped, with Damar Hamlin suffering cardiac arrest and shocking both teams to the core.
While nothing from the first meeting was counted, this time, the game has a significant reward as the winner will take on the winner of the Jacksonville Jaguars vs. the Kansas City Chiefs match-up in the AFC Championship Game.
This week on In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics, we've had some great guests leading up to the game. So be sure to check out any you might have missed.

Eric attended Elder High School before an excellent college career at the University of Louisville that saw him drafted by the Bills in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He would play nine seasons for the Bills before ending his football career because of a neck injury.
